A Class Act

Class-action lawyers square off against a high-powered corporate legal team in the timely new drama A Class Act at New World Stages. Written by playwright-lawyer Norman Shabel, this ripped-from-the-headlines drama centers on the backroom negotiations that go on in a class action lawsuit. When a major chemical company is revealed to be dumping toxic waste into a city's water supply, a law firm files suit on behalf of the thousands of "little people" who might die from the poisonous water. But as the lawyers wheel and deal, and decide whether to take a settlement or go to trial, it becomes increasingly unclear who is really winning.
