The off-Broadway house, formerly known as the Chelsea Theatre Center and the Westside Arts Theatre, houses two auditoriums: the 299 seat Upstairs Theatre and the 249 seat Downstairs Theatre. The building was renovated in 1991 and the Downstairs Theatre has housed such long running shows as The Vagina Monologues and Jewtopia.
