The Lyric was until 2014 known as the Foxwoods Theatre (2010). It was re-named the Lyric Theatre following its purchase in 2013 by The Ambassador Theatre Group, an international theatre owner and production company. It was previously named the Hilton Theatre (2005), and previously to that as the Ford Center for the Performing Arts (1998). The building was formerly the old Apollo and Lyric Theatres, and incorporates actual parts of the old houses, including the fully restored facades on W. 42 and W. 43 Streets.
