The Secret Paris Project at The Secret Theatre

An ensemble of eight women explore the sad, underground world of queer Paris in the '30s through the art of clowning, accompanied by live percussionist Abby Fisher. Developed through a collaborative process, this devised theater work interprets the unfulfilled feelings of longing and desire from that devastating period through the laughter and tears of a clown. The Secret Paris Project is directed by Claire Hamoor and was inspired by the work of Hungarian photographer Brassai, famed for his 1933 collection of pictures entitled Paris de nuit (Paris by Night).
