The 39 Steps

The 39 Steps

The Union Square Theatre
100 East 17th Street New York

This ingenious comic stage adaptation of Alfred Hitchcock's suspenseful thriller The 39 Steps turns a cast of four talented actors into more than 150 zany characters with a mix of melodrama, action and lots of quick-change costuming, and all in just 100 minutes. In this fast-paced and funny whodunit, a man is accused of a murder he didn't commit, so he flees from the authorities and embarks on a string of hair-raising adventures -- as well as an unlikely romance. Arnie Burton, who co-starred in the original Broadway production, returns, joining Broadway's Robert Petkoff (All the Way, Anything Goes) and Billy Carter (A Moon for the Misbegotten), as well as recent Juilliard grad Brittany Vicars in her New York stage debut. The 39 Steps comes to Union Square Theatre, which just happens to be 39 steps east of Union Square.
