Runaways

New York City Center
130 West 55th Street New York

Runaways is a gritty urban musical based on Elizabeth Swados' interviews and observations of actual child runaways during the late '70s. A heartbreaking mixtape of their stories, fears and fantasies, the story follows a group of young people who are related by the desire to belong despite familial struggles, the influences of society and the mean streets on which they call home. Featuring a talented cast of young actors and jam-packed with reggae anthems, hip-hop and spoken-word poetry, this inspiring and unconventional production brings its visionary voice to the New York City Center.
