Henrik Ibsen's genius 1882 political thriller An Enemy of the People receives a fresh adaptation in this new play by David Harrower. Ibsen's parable scandalously challenged the hypocrisy of Victorian morality, and the collision of truth and politics in the public sphere takes on new immediacy in Public Enemy. This punchy and raw adaptation from the playwright behind Broadway's Blackbird follows Dr. Stockman, who finds that his town's tourist-friendly baths contain lethal levels of toxins. When he sets out to make the problem known and get it corrected, however, he quickly finds his friends and neighbors poisoned against him. See the U.S. premiere at Pearl Theatre in New York City.
