King Lear

King Lear

Polonsky Shakespeare Center
262 Ashland Place Brooklyn

Believed by many to be Shakespeare's greatest play, King Lear depicts an aging monarch's descent into madness as his family and country are torn apart by the ambition and jealousy of his children. This sweeping legend depicts the devastating consequences of pride, as King Lear's hubris and his daughters' ambitions destroy not just their own family, but an entire nation as well. Arin Arbus, called the "most talented new director to emerge in 2009" by The New York Times, directs the two-time Olivier Award nominee Michael Pennington in this iconic role.
