Dead Centre: Lippy

Dead Centre: Lippy

Abrons Arts Center
466 Grand Street New York

An innovative and daring new play from Ireland's Dead Centre theater company, Lippy uses as a jumping off point the real-life incident that occurred in 2000 in which three sisters and their aunt boarded themselves up in their home and intentionally starved themselves to death. But instead of imposing the usual approach of dramatic recreation on these events, Lippy uses the mind-boggling nature of the tragedy to undermine the very idea of the ripped-from-the-headlines mystery story. Widely regarded as one of the most extraordinary works to come out of Ireland last year, Lippy won several awards at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and the Dublin Fringe Awards.
