Cowboy Mouth

13th Street Repertory Company
50 West 13th Street New York

Follow the seedy exploits of Slim and Cavale, two tumultuous artists based on Sam Shepard and Patti Smith, who wrote the play during their relationship. Cavale (inspired by Smith) and Slim (modeled on Shepard) live in New York City during the '60s and '70s, and together with their pet lobster, the pair live, fight and create enough for 10,000 lifetimes before their partnership disintegrates. Smith and Shepard wrote Cowboy Mouth in two nights by passing a typewriter back and forth between them, writing deranged, emotionally fueled dialogue.
