259 West 30th Street New York

The distance between recovering alcoholic Leda and her Born Again Christian daughter is filled with silence, anger and humor. Upon the advice of a therapist dealing with her own host of troubles, Leda tries to bridge that distance and prepare her daughter for the calamity just ahead. Written and directed by one of Canada's most acclaimed playwrights, Daniel MacIvor, Communion explores the dark places that can plague families. The three-woman production finds its characters scrambling to repair a bond that's fraying under the pressures of religion, recovery and a ticking clock. When this stirring drama takes the stage at New York's Urban Stages Theatre, you'll learn whether or not some ties are too damaged to mend.
