A New Brain

A New Brain

New York City Center
130 West 55th Street New York

Penned after composer William Finn (Falsettos) was hospitalized with a mysterious illness, A New Brain examines the Tony winner's near-death experience through the lens of fear, forgiveness, singing frogs and...dancing doughnuts. Tony Award nominee Jonathan Groff (Spring Awakening, Frozen) stars in the New York City Center production of this autobiographical 1998 musical. The charmingly eccentric tale follows Gordo Schwinn, a creatively stifled, sarcastic songwriter stymied by a kids' TV show project. When he suddenly collapses from a brain disorder requiring emergency surgery, a hallucinatory journey unfolds as Schwinn struggles to create his greatest songs while still recovering. With big production numbers depicting intimate personal epiphanies, A New Brain is a funny theatrical adventure and a touching story about the healing power of art.
